From Auckland (via Tairua) take State Highway (SH) 1 on the Southern Motorway to Bombay, turn left onto SH2 and follow the signs to Thames via SH25. Just after crossing the new Kopu bridge, you reach a major roundabout. Follow the sign to Tairua and Whitianga turning left onto SH25A. Follow the State Highway 25 through Tairua & Whitianga to Kuaotunu. Past the Kuaotunu store turn right into Black Jack Road & follow the signs to Opito. Once you arrive in Opito, drive almost to the end of the beach & turn right into Stewart Place.
The alternative and perhaps more scenic route is via the west coast. After the Kopu bridge turn left ,pass through Thames and continue north turning right off to Whitianga – about 3 kms south of Coromandel Town – onto SH 25A. Continue over the range until Kuaotunu, turning left at the bridge and then onto the Blackjack Road.
